John Gerber

Words can´t express how much of a friend and a sailing coach John was to me. I loved visiting with him at his office and on the phone. When I began my national sailing campaign he totally designed my San Juan 21 sailboat and I eventually won 2 national championships with it. When he and I fixed up the Santana 23 at Johnson Lake we had great success but more enjoyed the engineering changes to improve the boat. More recently he gave me advice when sailing and repairing my 40 foot sailboat...

I remember John and Gwen from bell choir at First Methodist Church. John graciously built our 1st bell tables. Some are still in use in the choir room. Many fond memories from bell choir

My sympathy to John's family. He treated sailboat customers with splendid, equal attention, whether it was a 14 footer or a large cruiser. He could get any part you needed! His involvement at the local lake regattas (1980's) is admirable. A legend on the water. May he rest in a well-deserved peace.
