A man who always had a kind word and was totally supportive of the research of young and not so young investigators. A man who remembered the Latin from his schooldays. I owe him much and wish I could still thank him again for the privilege of knowing him for more than 41 years!

It is very sad to learn of John's death. He was a very dedicated researcher and strong supporter of the scientists at BBRI for over 40 years. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to Nora and family.

I remember Dr. Gergely as the highly intelligent but quiet soul in a very dynamic , lively family. My childhood memories included time spent playing in their yard and trying to compete academically with his daughters. As an adult, I shared many chats with Nora down the "back rocks' never daring to accept her invitations for her mile long swim in the ocean. Please accept my deepest sympathies to a family of whom I have such fond, warm memories.
