John Edwin Gingerich, age 88, of Milford, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 11:25 pm.
He was born October 8, 1925 in Howard County to Albert and Salome (Troyer) Gingerich. He married Mary Ellen Schlabach in LaGrange on February 28, 1946.

John has lived in Nappanee for 58 years. He was a retired Dairy farmer. He was a member of Salem Mennonite Church. John was always willing to help those in need.

Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen, also daughters, Carolyn (Jerry) Helmuth, Wakarusa, Audrey (Eldon) Miller, Nappanee, Jane (Art) Hershberger, Dillwyn, VA; sons, Merrill (Lola) Gingerich, Phillip (Jane) Gingerich, both of Milford; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, sister, Martha (Henry) Plank, Arthur, IL, brother, Walter (Martha) Gingerich, Arthur, IL; sister-in-law, Fran Gingerich, Kokomo. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Miller, 2 great grandchildren, Trent Martin and Emily Kauffman, and a brother Joe Henry Gingerich.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday , March 12, 2014 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. There will also be a visitation for 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service , which will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Salem Mennonite Church. Bill Yoder, Terrill Yoder, and Jerry Helmuth will officiate. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Goldenrod or the Donor?s choice.

Sorry about the loss of your father

Sorry to hear of John's passing however we do rejoice to know that he is now with his Lord. We had many good domino games with John and Mary Ellen and several other families from church. He will be missed at home and at church as well as with family. Our thoughts will be with you however we will not be able to be at the funeral on Thurs. as we are out of the area presently.
