Not sure what to say?

Just learned of your dad's passing. He was such a good friend to my dad these past few years, having "senior " coffee at Burger King, friendly betting in the March Madness and especially kept each other company after both of their wives passed away within a month of each other. Our family was so grateful for the friendship and how John kept my dad company during the most difficult times in his life. Such a special man.

My condolences to the family. Mr. Giolas had a rich history of photography in Gary. His record of excellence made his studio extremely popular. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted.

John was such a wonderful neighbor to my mother and I used to enjoy seeing both John and Elaine when I would come to Valparaiso to visit. Such an accomplished photographer - my mother still has a picture he took of her magnolia tree on her fridge today. May he Rest In Peace.

To the Giolas Family:

Mr. Giolas was the only photographer who took all of our Senior Class and Prom pictures. I graduated from Tolleston High School in 1966 and still have my picture as do many others. He was always a very nice person. May God Bless your family and keep you in his tender loving care.

John was my friend, my photography teacher, my mentor, and my favorite Greek philosopher. I will miss him profoundly. .
His messages to me were signed with the word "agape"; in Greek it means love, the highest form of love, charity
He loved and was loved in return.
I am grateful for the years of his special friendship, his quick wit, his artistic and creative personality. He was unique.

I met John as a member of the former volley ball team in the old Marquette Elem School, where I was school librarian. We all enjoyed his participation. He also took the students' pictures there annually in the Media Center. I still have hanging on the wall in my den a framed photograph of the Indiana Dunes of his. My condolences.

Dale & family. Do you remember 8th Ave, and John Vohr? We had fun. Your Dad took us to a small kiddleland, and took pictures of us which I still have. May John's memory by eternal. I saw your mom a few years back. She came to my moms visitation in Merrillville.

So sorry for your lost. May God continue to be with the family. Romans 12:12

It's Sunday and I am just finding out that John passed away on Tuesday... our deepest sympathy. We are so sorry to hear this. I am one the many fortunate women who, as a bride 49 years ago hired John Giolas to take my wedding photos. They were absolutely creative, beautiful and still very cherished. I am happy that I was able to visit John at Symphony, meet his sons, and once more thank him for his photos by showing him and reminding him of one with which he won ribbons. May his memory be...
