age 77, of Bessemer, AL passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. Mr. Glasgow was a member of Morgan United Methodist Church. He retired from the Bessemer Fire Department after 30 plus years of service. He helped build the John E. Glasgow Baseball Park in Greenwood, and was also very active in Dixie Youth Baseball. Mr. Glasgow was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Glasgow; his parents, Albert and Helen Glasgow; his brother, Albert Glasgow and his sister, Julia Simpson. He is survived by his former wife, Rose Glasgow; his sons, John E. (Darlene) Glasgow, Jr., Chuck (Kim) Glasgow, Mike (Debbie) Glasgow, Chris (Amy) Glasgow, and Zac Glasgow; his grandchildren, Steven, Amber, Kristen, Hannah, Jennifer and Madison; his brother, Jim (Margaret) Glasgow; his sister, Mary Cooley; his in-laws, Sylvia Blackerby, and Tish (Kevin) Smith; several nieces, nephews, extended loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Morgan United Methodist Church with burial in South Crest Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Perry Duffey will be officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made to the Zachary O. Glasgow Family, I am sorry I could not be with you in body. However my thoughts prayers & spirit are with you in this time of celibration. It is hard for us here on earth.I know it may not feel like a celibration to us & we will miss him dearly. however he is seeing old freinds & celibrating new life with GOD.

I have so many wonderful memories of Morgan Methodist, soft ball games and John Glasgow.I just know he and my Larry are reliving good times and even now Larry is showing John how he threw his "curve ball". God bless you every one.
