Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC - Pen Argyl Obituary

John R. Goffredo, 84 of Roseto, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2021, surrounded by his family.

John was born on November 19, 1936, to the late Rose S. and John Goffredo. John was a life-time resident of Roseto and graduated from Bangor High School in 1954.

John worked with his brothers, the late Michael S. Goffredo, Louis Goffredo and their sister Antoinette Goffredo at the family business, John Goffredo & Sons, Inc.

John served in the United States Army for six years and was honorably discharged in 1963. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church where he was conferred as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, in the Father DeNisco Council, #3862, Bangor.

John is survived by His loving wife, Veronica (nee Zanette), and his children, Mary Rose (Eddie) Farrell, the late John David Goffredo and his wife Lisa, Ann L. Borell (Eric), Thomas C. Goffredo and his wife Jill, Catherine L. Goffredo, Peter A. Goffredo and his wife Beth.

John was the beloved “Pop Pop” to his eleven grandchildren, Talia Mazza (Justin), Taylor Goffredo, Carly Borell, Grace Borell, Emily Borell, John Andrew Goffredo, Isabella Goffredo, Julia Goffredo, Peter Thomas Goffredo, Anna Goffredo, Matthew Goffredo and great-granddaughters, Mila Rose Mazza and her new baby sister, Lucia Belle Mazza. John is also survived by his brother, Louis and his wife Dotty Goffredo, sister, Roseann Lopiano and sisters-in-law, Jean Goffredo, Rose E. Messino and Charlene Zanette, and brother-in-law, Anthony Zanette.

Both John and Veronica were staunch believers in family, and they maintained the weekly tradition of hosting the entire family for “Sunday Dinner”.  These lively dinners often consisted of homemade macaronis and meatballs in “Gravy” along with John’s sprinkling of holy water on all members of his family for their protection. John’s wife and children plan to continue Pop’s time-honored tradition of Sunday Dinner for years to come.

There will be viewing hours ONLY, Wednesday, August 18, 2021, beginning at 5 PM until 8 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

0ur most heartfelt sympathy to Veronica, Tommy, and the Goffredo family Bruce and Phyllis Snyder

Although I never personally met Mr. Goffredo, in many ways I felt I knew him. I have had the distinguished pleasure of working with two of his sons, John and Peter. Their sense of compassion, and determined hard work at what ever they did truly represents the greatness of the father.
Heartfelt condolences and blessings for the whole clan.

Veronica and all your children and grandchildren, my sincere sympathy to all of the family. Growing up in Roseto , everyone knew the Goffredo family. The family really grew and although I did not know all of them personally I do know some of the Goffredo´s and their spouses. Dear Veronica and Family, Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We didn't know John very well, but admired his and the families' dedication and service to OLMC church. I served as a Lector with Veronica, served on a committee with John David, and coached CYO intramural basketball with Tom when Isabella and my children were young. Our hearts and prayers go out to the whole family, and for John.
