Not sure what to say?

As a student of John's at UNSW from 1990 to 1994, I'll always be thankful for the terrific knowledge and enthusiasm he imparted, and passed on to students of theatre like myself. His knowledge and passion for the subjects of 17th Century French drama, and Moliere in particular, was surely without peer. Lasting memories of a talented lecturer

I just found out that John died. He was a brilliant teacher and colleague and a wonderful friend. He was a great researcher and a brilliant supporter of Australian theatre history.

I've only just learned of John's passing. I was a student of his and he was a wonderful educator. HIs passion for the theatre, in particular the French theatre, knew no bounds. He had an infectious personality and an enthusiastic raconteur with many wonderful stories to share. it was a delight to be in his company and learning of his loss brings back many fond memories of John as both a teacher and a colleague.

Thank you John for your enthusiasm and the boundless love of theatre you shared with us. You replayed Moliere's onstage death scene so marvellously in our Play in Performance Lecture!
