GOODWIN, John M. - Of Burton, age 64, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 12Noon Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Dan Wonderly officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one's choice. Visitation 4-8PM Thursday and 10AM-8PM Friday at the funeral home. John was born in Flint, Michigan on November 4, 1938, the son of the late John and Evelyn Goodwin and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. He married Diane Ochodnicky in Flint on April 2, 1993. John served in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Station in New Orleans where he was a Commandant of the 9th Naval District. He also had a love for antique cars and sports cars. He enjoyed traveling, especially to warm locations. John retired in January 1987, as a Lieutenant for the City of Flint Fire Department after 24 years of service. John's father retired as the Chief of the Flint Fire Department. Surviving are wife, Diane; daughter, Lisa and husband Jesse Trevino of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Martha Hurley of Alaska; 2 brothers, David and wife Janet of Flushing, Michael and wife Eiko of Pensacola, Florida; special sisters-in-law, Shirley and husband Don Domby, Betty Jones and finace' Frank Galbavi and Judy Vura; special friends, Don and wife Kris Miron, Steve and wife Sue Tarkowski, Denny and wife Donna Gardner, Michael and wife Kathy Norman; several nieces and nephews; his beloved pets, Dixie Lou and Jake.
