John was a gentle giant. Such a loving man. He loved his family as dearly as they did him. His son John, his daughter Amy and his dear friend Matt cared for him till the end. He had such kindness in his heart. He will be forever remembered with love. My love to all, Elaine Nevi

My sincere condolences to the Gottstein family. John and I became the best of friends when his family moved to Norwood Avenue. We went to different high schools and lost contact for a years but every time we ran into each other it was like old times. John was a terrific athlete. I remember when he was 11 at a Little League tryout he hit 2 back to back home runs out of the park on Ontario St. So sorry for your loss.

John, Amy, and Matt, I have so many great memories of your dad and grandmother that I could write a book. They were both great friends and treated me like family. They both played a large part in my life. I miss your grandmother to this day and your dad is really going to be missed immensely. You and Matt did a great job caring for him especially in his final days. May his soul rest in peace. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Deepest sympathies, Michael and Helen Wood

My condolences to my dearest friend John and family. Your Dad was an amazing man, who adored his children and grandchildren beyond words. He was full of life and laughter. He was a true care giver to his mother and brother Joe. You John are the mirror image of your Dad in that regard. You love hard, and no one adored your Dad more than you. You´ve looked out for him your entire adult life, and never left his side during his lengthy illness. He will be so missed. Thank God you have a lifetime...

I'd like to remember Johnny in Carl's car with Carl and Joe at Buckingham Pond in Albany. Carl would have his newspapers and he and Johnny would be discussing world politics and sports and make Joe laugh. It's rare today to witness the kind of love and caring shared by these brothers towards each other. Johnny spoke often with pride about his children and Carl's. He was true patriarch of his family and loved them dearly. Heaven will be a better place with Johnny there. Condolences to the...
