Not sure what to say?

I met "Jack" Grauer almost a decade ago when he came to the Office Max store on SE 82nd Avenue to have one of his books reprinted. Always the complete gentleman, he was a delight to to deal with and I enjoyed helping him get his projects completed. We did several books for him and it surprised, and delighted, him that I remembered him and greeted him personally whenever he visited us. Though as printers, we were admonished to only look at a customer's project for quality, I couldn't help but...

Jack is my third cousin, and I still live in the small village in southern Germany where his ancestors lived before they emigrated to the United States. He visited us in 1994 when he made his trip around the world. We also met him a few times in the USA and shared a wonderful time. We keep the beautiful memories in our hearts.

Jack Grauer was larger than life in our family. He was friends of my parents, Jim & Ann Wendlandt, through the Mazamas. I was reminded this morning while looking for the date that I climbed Mt. St. Helens (since today is anniversary of the eruption) that I climbed the mountain with Jack in 1976. He was also my climb school instructor with the Mazamas. A good long, purpose driven life.

I will always remember Jack smiling a big smile & laughing a big laugh. He & Marilyn were good friends of my parents - Harold & Dottie Scharback. They knew each other through the Mazamas & both couples belonged to The Potluck Gang. And I remember, as a kid, all the families would go on picnics & hikes together. Those are great memories, and Jack was always fun to be around. I send warm thoughts & deep sympathy for the loss of your Dad - he was a great spirit. - Karen Breslin

The Bachelor'n'Bachelorettes Square and Round Dance Club remembers Jack as being such an enthusiastic supporter of our dancing sport! He was not only a great dancer, he also served as our President in 1983-84---and welcomed all with his winning smile and hugs for many years to come. Yellorocks to you in Heaven, Jack---you will be missed!

Jack's book about Mt Hood is an amazing read and brought it to life for me. Condolences for those he left behind. Jack will be missed by many.

Thank you, Jack, for lifting us up in body and mind, in heart and in soul. You will always be the spirit of the Mazamas for me. Oh, may you go a-wandering Until the day you die! And may you always laugh and sing, Beneath God's clear blue sky! Climb on, Jack.

Jean and Tom, We have lost a very good person. You can be very proud of your Father. His work and accomplishments with the Mazamas are very admirable. It is his writings and years of work he did to document the people, organizations, and History of Mt Hood that will be long remembered.

Jack was a fine gentleman. I own several editions of "A Complete History of Mt. Hood." I am 436 on the Mt Hood Ski Patrol and was active for 50 years, and a member of the Wy'east Climbers. I and the mountain people owe a great deal to him for his contribution to climbing and the history of our playground.
