Not sure what to say?

Mr. Green was always caring, loving and great person. He was my headmaster at Rectory in the early 80's.

Dear Green Family,

Just learning a few minutes ago of John's passing, I'm still processing an overload of thoughts - all good & mostly very, very happy thoughts... what a great guy!

The picture in my mind of tall, lanky, dapper John Green on a bike riding by the Refectory or in the Quad feels good. But I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry... he looked good (even cool?) but I'm thinking "could he stop in time, if he had to?!"

While our son Mike was a student at...

It seems like only yesterday that John and I first met. We had an engaging conversation in his living room but in reality, it was an interview for the position of art department chair. Because of that conversation and the wisdom he imparted with it, I was able to have a 43 year career at Avon and I could never thank him enough. Over the years, Andre and I spent many good times together with John and his family. It was the 70's and the era of "Chicken Coop Dinners," the Hartford Stage, faculty...

We have lost a valuable friend and mentor. It is difficult to put into words the effect his life had on ours. Sandy & I send our deepest condolences to you Millie and to the boys. We shall never forget.

Dear Millie, John, Peter, Dan and Matt,

Not having too many heroes in the world these days, those who knew John Green were truly fortunate. As a legendary figure, both as an educator and as a person, we were blessed to have not only known him and his family and but to also have greatly benefitted from John's generous, informed, principled, well-grounded, and common sense approach to his life and the many lives that he so profoundly touched and, in many cases, saved. In thinking of...

Dear Millie, John Jr., Peter, Dan, Matt and all,
Our hearts go out to you at this sad time. John was a great Dean, Headmaster, teacher, role model, mentor, friend, husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by so many. We feel lucky to have known him. He is now free of physical limitations in heaven. Love is eternal.
Until we meet again, our deepest condolences to you all,

Dean Green made me feel welcome at AOF, a real gentleman! Rest in peace.

To a wonderful man John Green. I spent my senior year at Avon Old Farms working in the Dean's office with him and will forever be the better for it. He will best be remembered for being kind, caring and encouraging. He was a friend and will forever be missed. So sad to hear of your passing.

John was a great role model to every fellow educator he worked with. I am thankful for the advice and wisdom he imparted in our conversations.
