Bonnie and family, there have been so many days that I would pick up the phone to call John when it would hit me again. I truly know he is in a better place and is no longer in the continuous battle with the cancer. To Bonnie and family: I am John's 2nd cousin from New York. My dad was Howard Sawyer and Waneta Nixon was my first cousin. I am very sad to learn of John's passing. I have lost track of so many cousins through the years, but have such fond memories of time spent at the cottage on Cayuga Lake and fun times with Nick and Waneta. I am a relative from New York, Leigh Vrooman ( Mother was Mary Sawyer Vrooman). It was always a high lite of my younger years to go to the lake and spend time with Nick and Waneta. Bonnie and family, I was so saddened to hear of John's passing . He was always a gentleman and a true friend to all he knew. I spend many a great time with him at the Sheriffs office back in the old days . We used to make some great sandwiches in the old jails
