John A. Gresock, Sr., 88

John A. Gresock, Sr., 88, Grove City, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Trinity Living Center in Grove City.

He was born May 1, 1926, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Anna Catherine (Hardick) and Stephen Gresock.

On July 18, 1948, he married Marjorie Gresock, who preceded him in death on August 15, 2014.

John served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II.

He was a member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple in Grove City.

He was a graduate of Saints Cosmas and Damian School of Punxsutawney.

He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, hunting, and was a Steelers and Pirates fan.

He was a member of the American Legion of Punxsutawney.

John worked as a butcher for Kroger for over 35 years.

Surviving relatives include a daughter Linda S. McFadden of Grove City; a grandson Keith E. McFadden and friend Julie Mayberry of Grove City; two great grandchildren, Kristen K. McFadden of New Castle and Cameron D. McFadden of Grove City; Samantha Mayberry of Grove City; a great-great granddaughter Adrianna McFadden; three brothers, Steve Gresock and wife Marian of Flushing, MI, Sam Gresock of Punxsutawney, and Nick Gresock and wife Barb of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son John A. Gresock, Jr.; five sisters, Agnes Sitko, Celestine Fleckenstein, Ethel Kolodick, Anna Mary Gresock, and Thecla Gresock; a brother Gabe Gresock; and a nephew Samuel Gresock.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A Panachida will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the funeral home with Father Simeon Sibenik officiating.

Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Gresock, may be made to the donor?s choice.
