Groton - John W. Hainline, age 61, of Groton died on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1944 in New London, the son of Wilmer R. and Ina Kart Hainline.

Mr. Hainline graduated from Fitch Senior High School in 1963, and received an associate of science degree in business administration in 1970 from Mitchell College. John worked for many years as a radiation protection and safety engineer and lead and asbestos abatement specialist in shipyard, nuclear power, commercial and general construction sectors.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Elks and the Groton Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his sister, Louise Hainline and her husband, Micha Tomkiewicz, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Christina M. Hainline, of Willington, from his marriage to Julianne Gleason Hainline; two daughters, Susan L. Hainline and Laura E. Hainline, of Mystic, from his marriage to Amy Leventhal Hainline; and two grandchildren, Damian and Tabitha.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock.

I am so very sorry to hear of Johns passing.
I worked with John at Millstone and CT Yankee power outages.
John was a very nice person. He mad me feel very comfortable in some very uncomfortable situations.
Everyone liked John. He was just that kind of a person.
