Not sure what to say?

I am saddened to learn of Dr. Hammon´s death. Dr. Hammon performed my open heart surgery in 1994. I have Tetralogy of Fallot. I was only 11 months old. I will be 31 years old in March 2024. I stumbled upon this news rather recently. I have definitely shed a few tears. I owe this man my life. Had he not been so proactive with my open heart surgery, and not to mention his skill, I don´t know what kind of life I would have. Because of him, I have only had one heart surgery even though I have...

I never knew Dr. Hammond, but my parents will never forget him. He helped save my life as a patient with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome in 1987 at Vanderbilt in Nashville. God bless his family and God rest his soul. Look forward to meeting him in Heaven.

John was a good father-in-law and he loved to laugh more than anyone I've known. Whether he was telling a joke or dancing along to music, he knew how to have fun. He will be so very missed.

John and I grew up together in Springfield, Missouri and were classmates in the same grade and high school. I mourn his death.

My deceased wife and I shared many wonderful conversations before and after choir practice at St. Paul's Episcopal church with John. I had the privilege of sitting in front of him during rehearsals and services. He lovingly recommended a hip surgeon for my wife and a neurological surgeon for me. I will also remember him for his kindness, caring, and humility. John was a wonderful human being.

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

My heart goes out to John's family who loved and enjoyed his many interests and talents. Lisa, I'm sending a special hug to you with my deepest sympathy. Holly Marion
