Not sure what to say?

Dear Sallie, I was so sad when you called to tell me that John had passed away. I had not seen John since 2007 before I moved from Frederick. He stopped by one day to visit and catch up. He was always very well dressed and would say outlandish things to get a response from me. Tom, my deceased husband, and I spend many hours at John and Sallie´s home. John got Tom involved with golf at the VFW and introduced him to new friends. My condolences to Sallie, her family, and John´s family. My...

Sallie and family members, I just learned about John´s passing and am saddened by the fact that we have lost the other half of our "battery mates" combo. John was a terrific pitcher at all levels and he was the Ace #1(pitcher) and I remained The Duece#2(catcher). Playing together for years, we won state championships in Little League, Babe Ruth, American Legion(2 at each level). I will miss John, but will never forget the memories we shared. Please accept my sincere condolences at this...

Sallie, so sad to hear about John's passing. Prayers for comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Sallie, Brigette, John Michael and Joey, and family, I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Hammond's passing. I spent a lot of my youth in a dugout with him. He was passionate and firey, and I loved that about him. I wish I could be there to mourn with you, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers. With sympathy, Frankie Martz (and for Carol Martz)

I attended St. Francis Prep with John. We became friends when he recruited me to be his catcher for the softball team. I found out later that anyone that saw him pitch had turned him down out of fear. Forget about a no hit game I think he had a no hit season. My hand was never the same. I enjoyed his company on our 50 mile walk our senior year. We were both injured but determined to finish. We made 49.7 miles and it got dark and Father Ath made us quit and get in the pickup van. He and I went...

I was so sad to learn of John´s passing. I have known John most of my life in that we share roots in the small village of Libertytown, just 12 miles from Frederick. John´s grandparents lived there as did I and I remember John visiting as a kid. Also his dad was my orthodontist. John and I became friends when we attended St John´s in Frederick and both played on the baseball team. John was a great pitcher and all around athlete. In our junior year we both transferred to St. Francis Prep, a...

John first graces our history books in 1955. There are seven references to him and several pictures available in the old Frederick National Little League history archive (https://fredericknational.weebly.com/1951-1960.html). Frederick National has since merged with East Frederick to once again be known as Frederick Little League. We´ve come full circle, starting with John as one of our early players. His jersey proudly hangs at Staley Stadium. We welcome anyone who would like to visit it and...

To Sallie and family... please accept my sympathy and condolences for your loss. John was a great guy and excellent baseball player. May rest in peace John.

My prayers and condolences to to Sallie and family. May John rest in peace.
