Uncasville - John Francis Hancock passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2007 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 25, 1938 in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Winton and Frances (Gallagher) Hancock.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. John was a good friend and golfing buddy; I will especially be missing him on Thursday nights - he always brought out the best of whoever was with him.

My prayers are with you during this very difficult time. I know John was a gem of a man. Thank you for sharing stories about your family with me during our times together. I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to you for your great loss, he was a wonderful man and a true gentleman...The memories we have of him; we will treasure, He will be greatly missed by us all.

John was one of the first people I met in 1966 when I went to work at JJ Henry in Cohasset, he taught me a lot in those early years. Through the years I worked with John at General Dynamics in both Quincy, MA and Groton, CT. He will be deeply missed, may God comfort you in your loss.
