Not sure what to say?

I can't believe it's been almost 10 years. I still tell everyone it was the best job I ever had. Dr. Hankins truly cared about his employees and patients. That's a rare find in today's world. We had a special New Orleans bond. I'll never forget how much he helped my family after Hurricane Katrina and how he called to check on us. I tell people if he was here he would figure it out. That's just the kind of person he was. I think of your family often and get updates here and there. Memories...

Years may soften the feelings of the acute loss of our family and friends but our memories never fade! Memories that make us smile and memories that elicit tears but they are memories that dwell in our hearts forever, Dr. Hankins, thanks for the forever memories that you created for patients and staff of Brookwood Oncology!

Dear Elaine; Just found out about Doctor John. I still have the unicorn coffee mug he brought back from a Medical Conference he attended. Working with Doctor Hankins, and everyone was one of the happiest times of my life.

I am just finding out about the death of Dr. Hankins and feel so lost and sad. Dr. Hankins saved my life when I was diagnosed at the age of 39 and my chances of survival were slim. He helped me stay positive and hopeful and allowed me to participate in making decisions about my treatment. He was patient, kind and never in a hurry. My family loved him and knew I was in good hands under his care. I was a patient of his from 1989 until he retired. He was my caring friend as well as my...

I just found out about Dr. Hankins on Wednesday. I was devastated. Dr. Hankins came into my life when I was 21 yrs old. At that age, that is when you think nothing can happen to you. And I'm 45 now. Dr. Hankins was a Godsend. I wanted to give up on life, nothing mattered to me, and I kept questioning why me. He entered my life as my Doctor and he changed my whole outlook on life. He was my Dr., my friend, my confidant, he treated me like I was his daughter, he believed in Me, although I had...

Dr. John Hankins was my light at the end of the tunnel. I was scared when I received my cancer diagnosis, but he kept my spirits up with his warmth and humor. When I would be in the office for my chemo treatments, he would tell my husband and I stories about his first car and some of his adventures before he entered medical school. He had nicknamed us the 'dynamic duo'. He made us laugh and we loved him. I am now cancer free and that is because of Dr. Hankins. We all have lost an...

Dr. John Hankins, a great Physician, a great human

being. I will never forget taking my Father-in law to the office.
When we sat down PawPawsaid "I know you", Dr
John grinned & said "I know
you too". Paw Paw did not
know him as a MD but as a
farmer in Coosa County who
sat in old country stores &
never told anyone he was a
Doc. One year later I returned
with my Mother who had a brain tumor. As a nurse with over 25 years...

Elaine, Ashley and Patrick,
There are no words to express the disbelief and hurt that I felt when I learned that Catherine had passed away so unexpectedly! She was so pretty on Monday when I saw each of you! My prayers are with you now and always. May God grant you the strength as you face this tragedy so shortly after Dr. Hankins passing!

Catherine was one of my very best friends in high school. She was so beautiful inside and out. My heart breaks tonight for her family.
