I met John and Dawn in Zihuatanejo, Mexico and it turns out that we really enjoyed each other company including eating watermelon, pasta and touring Mexico's coastline. I met John through his work at the NW Council. He went on to write the foreword to my book. We also led tours of the Mona Bell and Bonneville Dam sites for the Friends of the Columbia River Gorge. I always appreciated his kindness, generosity, and his expertise as a writer and researcher. If John wrote it, you could be assured it was accurate, and source based. John was always eager to share a kind neighborly word when we met in our adjoining yards or out walking. His love for his family was unmistakable as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Dawn, the empty space he left behind is huge. We are here for you, right next door and will always hold a dear place in our hearts for him.
