I knew John in college when he lived at what we called "The White House." We often played frisbee golf all over OSU campus, and I'll always remember one of his favorite sayings was "Go big or stay on the front porch." Another was "Whoa, Nelly!"

John and I played basketball together in high school. On our trip to Calgary Canada for a tournament was a great memory. We had fund raisers for a year to make this team trip happen. The people who would care for us were called billets. Not a common word I had heard before. We were going to stay with a family with the last name Dejon. We miss you my friend. Always fun coaching our little girls in basketball and learning from you. :)

Our prayers go out to John's family and loved ones.
Godspeed old friend.

To Maryann, Haley, and Kevin,

I was proud to be your mother, someday we will meet again and have a little party like the last one with me and my children. I will always remember that as the last time I saw you, You looked so great. See you there

Oh Brother John, I hope you know what you meant to me. How lucky I was to have you as my champion growing up. My brother was so much fun and had an unbelievable zest for life. I keep my memories of John tucked tight in my heart. I will always hear your voice brother, and the kind words you always had for me. To all of us who claimed him as family, we were lucky. Love Mol

John you will be missed!! I cherish the days we coached the young basketball players from Lenox. You taught me a lot and certainly had a very positive impact on all. It was a sad day when you moved to Redmond and I always enjoyed when we met in passing. I wish the best for your lovely wife Maryann, daughter Haley and son Kevin.

The Deiss Family sends all our love & prayers to you.

John was an inspiration to all that he touched. A true gentle man. My life was changed by him as were all those lucky enough to know him.
