Not sure what to say?

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to the annual 4th of July get together at Bruce Cohen's home a couple of years in the 1980s. On one occasion, I was sitting alone, outside enjoying the beauty of the place and a guy walked up, sat down and we had a pleasant conversation. At some point, we introduced each other, and I then recognized his name. I apologized for not recognizing him immediately, and he just laughed and said it was nice to not be recognized. It was a conversation, and a...

I had the good fortune to know John in the mid 80's in Northern California. He was a genuinely smart and funny man that cared about people. I has been some time since John passed so I thought I would leave a note to say he is remembered and appreciated for his talent as a musician and his one of a kind personality. He is missed.

I was shocked as I was only speaking about what a nice man he was when I saw that the Doobie Brothers were getting together for a concert and a friend asked me his last name. I was horrified to see he had passed. I only met John a few years ago and he was a gentleman with a great sense of humor. My condolences to his family and I know he adored you all. While we all have memories of John he lives and walks with us.

My late husband, Jerry Santos, was a friend of Johnny circa high school and Arlington, Va days. I hope they are now jamming together. My condolences to the family.

Had the joy of meeting him at the Hollywood Bowl benefit for the National Veterans Foundation but became better acquainted during the Cycles and Brotherhood tours. Not only was he incredibly talented, but knew how to bring out the best in people. His observations changed my life for the better and I am so thankful to have known him, he will be missed but left a lot to be remembered by.

My heartfelt condolences are offered to the family, many, many friends, colleagues and devoted fans of John Hartman. John Hartman was the founding drummer for the Doobie Brothers, who played on hits including “Black Water” and “Listen to the Music.” He was greatly admired by his fellow artists and all those who knew him. What a great drummer he was. We pray that God continues to strengthen and comfort the family during this extremely difficult time.
