I've known John over 30 years, we were both at Cy-Fair Station 2 together. I came in a few month before John did, but it was very clear that he already knew a lot about firefighting. I knew John as an elevator mechanic but I love to read the things his fire fighter friends say about him. That he was a teacher, that their skills were enhanced by his share of knowledge. It is one thing to be the type of person who runs towards danger instead of away from it in order to help people, it is another to inspire that same sort of heroism in others. So sad to hear the news of John’s passing. I have such great memories of the time spent with him and his family at Cy-Fair Station 2. Praying that his memory provides comfort going forward for all. God Bless his family and all who knew him.

John was a fine elevator man. He had technical expertise that was almost unmatched in our trade. John was a joker, so he may tell you "NO" if you asked for his help. But you always knew John was going to help you.
