I've known John over 30 years, we were both at Cy-Fair Station 2 together. I came in a few month before John did, but it was very clear that he already knew a lot about firefighting. He was a member of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department before coming to Cy-Fair. As I got to know John I quickly learned that he has a lot of training to share with anyone who wanted to learn. I was fortunate to learn a lot from John, as did many others during his time. He was an amazing instructor, mentor and...

I knew John as an elevator mechanic but I love to read the things his fire fighter friends say about him. That he was a teacher, that their skills were enhanced by his share of knowledge. John was a fine elevator man. He had technical expertise that was almost unmatched in our trade. John was a joker, so he may tell you "NO" if you asked for his help. But you always knew John was going to help you.
What I liked the most about John was his roaring laughter. John, Chad, Frankie, and Little Cheryl would really mix it up back there in the Repair department. You could hear them laughing all over the entire office. If we were in the conference room having a meeting, one...

John, I always considered you a true friend. You were a great teacher. If I had any questions I knew I could always come you for an answer. You were there for me and my family when my dad passed away. Thank you for everything. I will never forget you my friend.
