John Philip Hawryluk, age 84, of Toms River, NJ passed away March 1, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center South, Lakewood.
Surviving John is his loving wife of 61 years, Marilyn Ann Hawryluk. Also surviving is his son Ronald John Hawryluk, his wife Barbara, and their daughter Jenna Marie; his daughter Lynn Ann Poggioli, her husband Ray, and their sons Raymond and Robert. Another son John "Jack" Philip Jr. is deceased, but is survived by his wife Dalva and their two children Christopher and Carina.
John was one of four children. His brothers Alexander and Harry Hawryluk pre-deceased him. His sister Geraldine Zelenenki of Union survives him.
Graduating from East Orange High School in 1951, John served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.
He was a parishioner of St. Luke's Church, a member of the Brick American Legion, and a Weblos leader in the Boy Scouts. John also coached Pop Warner football in Clark, NJ. He enjoyed sports and visiting historical locations, while also spending many years on Long Beach Island. John was employed by the A&F Cutter Corp. and the Clark Board of Education, retiring in 1997.
A viewing will be Sunday March 5, 2017 from 3 to 7pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road Brick, NJ 08723. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday, 10:30 am at St. Luke's Church, Toms River. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
