John was a great person. He had the remarkable ability to bring people together with his laughter and kindness. Our sympathy to Carole and family.

I knew John as the guy who sat in back of the Sheil during Sunday Mass. We would always have a short friendly exchange when I was the Sacristan. I will miss his "anchor". I am sorry I will miss his Mass as I will be on a business trip.

Thanks John, for your great sense of humor and for your faithful love of family and friends.

Lively, curious, kind, a lovely man. My fond and enduring memory of John is meeting him, completely by accident, one bright summer day, in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris! I regret very much that I will be unable to attend the funeral Mass, as I am still in Paris. Carole, you have my deep sympathy for your great loss. May God be with you.

So very sad to know my classmate at St Austines school has passed away !!!so many sweet memories we shared together !!!!

I enjoyed many post-Sheil lunches with John. I think his smile says it all--he was a fun raconteur and commentator on all things cultural/political/religious. We will all miss that smile.

John will be remembered as a kind, smart, loving inquisitive man. I have missed him. God grant solace to Carole and family as they grieve.
