John was a fine man and my mother Bernice Hemler Perry (his aunt) was very proud of him and his achievements. When he and his wife came to dinner at her home in Carlsbad, she would bring out the good china and enjoyed his conversations. The Hemler family (his father and other uncles & aunts ) was large and there were many great memories of celebrations on holidays.
