John Richard "Dick" Henke

I was just sorting though some papers of my mom, Martha Borchers, who passed away this year. I found Christmas cards which she received from your dad after my father died in 2010. I think they always corresponded because they were friends in Sidney. We moved away in 1969, but I remember attending St. John´s Lutheran Church with the Henke´s and going to the dairy to get ice cream cones. I have very fond memories of Sidney, and they are part of them.

Henke family: So sorry to learn of your father´s passing. I first met him during the early years of the YMCA. He was a really good person and you were lucky to have him. Now I understand where Bruce´s love of Purdue came from.

To all the family: Dick is remembered very fondly by all the Vorrest Sprague family. Dick and Virginia were so kind and caring toward my mother (Pat) and father (Vorrest). I know they thought so highly of him. Dick even called a couple of times to check on our mother after dad died although he wasn't doing so well himself. All of we "Sprague" kids remember Dick as great boss, as we all worked under him during our teen age years at Sidney Dairy. Please accept our condolences on the passing of...

I met Dick in 1977 and it became a life long friendship. Ann and I will miss his phone calls and visits.
