Not sure what to say?

I just saw Mr Henkels passing and offer my condolences. He and my father, Howard Wren, were in the same US ARMY AIR CORP unit in Europe during WW2. I read Mr Henkels's book and was able to get his phone number. This was several years ago and we talked for a pretty good while. He remembered my father, who was a crew chief on the P-47's and Mr Henkels was an armorer. He was a very pleasant, smart person. Steve Wren Mt Juliet, TN

You are missed but the world will always be a better place because of you.

My Grandfather Lt. Col. Edgar J. Loftus was John's Group Executive Officer of the 405th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force in WW2. They served together from the units beginning to the end of the war. I myself met and became friends with Mr. Henkels in 2001 and kept in contact with him regularly over the years. I just found out about his passing and I am very sad. I will miss our conversations that we had together. I would love to speak to the family but I have no such number since John phone...

Dear Andrea and Mike, I have so many good memories of John, Jean and how they introduced you to Owen and me. Wishing you much love and comfort.

John was a valued member of the Utah Opera family for many years and my sister Michelle and I treasured our friendship with him and Jean. They were kind and generous and left our community better than they found it. A favorite family memory is of my now adult son performing with John as supernumeraries in a production of Aida many years ago, and John entertaining him with jokes and pranks backstage. We express our deepest condolences to the entire family.

Warm Embrace Arrangement

My father, Weldon Winfrey, was a fan of John Henkels and his family. Our family, sends our condolences to the siblings and especially Larry and Rich. Your dad will be with you always as long as your heart beats.

We will always remember the contributions the Henkels family made to our community. The arts, education and religions have benefited from this generous family. Thank you for what your family has done to make our community a better place to live. We will miss John. The Pignanelli family

One of the most gracious, kind, loving, & generous persons we've ever known, and what a great sense of humor. Godspeed to you John and thanks for the wonderful example! Love, George & Mary Reade
