JOHN HENNIGAN

John,I and my late husband Gabor Vermes were what I would call "apartment building buddies" since 1980. John was a very private man, so our social life together took place in the elevator,back lobby, and front lobby of the Courtney House in Greenwich Village.
We often traded information and interpretations of academic and national politics, as well as potential and actual changes to our building. We exchanged travel tips, accounts of our most recent travels,a and restaurant recommendations...

Professor Hennigan was loved by many and will be missed dearly. A very gentle soul may he rest in peace.

John Hennigan will always inspire his many students, colleagues, friends, and family. His brilliant mind, gifted expression, and kind heart touched so many. I am proud to be his fond cousin and life-long friend. May all of us who mourn his sudden loss be heartened by his legacy.
