John R. Herman of Flint, age 72, died Friday June 16, 2017 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Hansen Funeral home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison; Burial will follow at Meadowview Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in John’s memory to the American Lung Association. John was born in Flint Michigan on September 28, 1944 the son of the late Burdette “Joe” & Madeline (Charron) Herman and has resided in the Flint area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Kathleen Christener on May 1, 1965 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2013. John was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed his many years vacationing in the Caseville area. He also had a true love for motorcycles and flat track racing. John had been employed by General Motors Truck & Bus Division until his retirement in 2008. Surviving are his daughters; Alicia & husband Bill Yehle, Julie & husband Jeff Swain, and Amy &husband Lonnie Shattuck. He also leaves his loving grandchildren; Zachary Swain, Jacob Yehle, Natalie Yehle, Makayla Shattuck and Madison Swain. Also surviving is brother Robert Herman, and sister Patsy Snyder. He was preceded in death by brother Jerome “Jerry” Herman and Bernard Herman. Share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net

Went to school with John at St. Mary's, we would go to the races at Dixie on Friday nights, with his father, and his friend. Remember he had a black 49 or 50 chevy. Sorry to hear about his death, We were old friends, Rest In Peace my friend
