John was my 1st cousin, and much older than I, so I didn't know him well. However, in the 60s I remember his coming to Sulphur Spgs. to fill in for my father, Dr. John Crawford, or my uncle, Dr. James L. Crawford, in their practice. He was always mistaken for my father's son since he looked so much like him and bore the name John. I remember his sense of humor at those times. John was my cousin, and while I was not close to him, I remember how much my father, Dr. John F. Crawford, cared for his namesake. He had great admiration for John, and was extremely proud of his many accomplishments. I regret that I cannot attend the memorial service today.
