SO sorry to hear this....A good friend from maybe 1973 - - and my fine friend, his first wife, Susan Anderson, passed just a month before.... so sad to lose our contemporaries these days....

John was one of my favorite people in the world. A mentor during my junior professorship at SF State, he was a cheerleader when I struggled and positive force when I succeeded. We shared a unique sense of dry humor and used to crack ourselves up with our weird exchanges. My heart goes out to Annette and his family, who John adored and talked about often. He is truly missed.

My deepest condolences to Anette and John's family. He is a legend. I'll always cherish his mentorship, steadfast guidance and support as a junior faculty member. His legacy at BECA and our newscast State of Events will never be forgotten. Much love, Dina

As much as anything, John was a role model as one who was always creating, always moving into the new. He was a guiding member of the "Cave," a men's group that celebrates the arts.
