I remember John and Linda from the Newcomers Club dinner parties during the early 80s. He was a kind, considerate, generous person that I have warm memories of. I was so sorry to read this obituary, he was too young and too valuable to our world because of his devotion to medicine. Rest above.

We first met Dr. Hicks when our son, Scott, who is autistic, was experiencing a severe regression and we didn't know why. He was the 22nd doctor that we saw, and the only one who could determine the underlying cause of his problem. He was an incredible support and source of knowledge for our family. We will be forever indebted to Dr. Hicks. Rest in peace, good friend.

Dr. Hicks was our pediatrician from 1991-2001...we were sad to have to change practices, but happy for his new endeavor. I have many fond memories of him as he was so educated and gifted! I had complete trust in his judgement, and my kids and I adored him! I was so shocked to hear of his passing! The world has lost a very fine man! We send our condolences to his family! The James E. Dr. Hicks was a man whose time had come. He save thousands of children from the ravishes of Autism by setting up a vaccine guideline that was sane and sensible. His death was too untimely, and I grieve for those who knew him.

I am so sad to read that Dr. John Hicks has passed. He was a tremendous help to our family when our daughter was released from the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Lutheran General hospital. In addition, he helped me with my older son for problems that others would not address. My daughter is now 28; my son will soon be 40, and I was looking Dr. Hicks up in the hopes of letting him know how well both were doing. God bless him and his family, he was a kind and good man. May he rest in peace.
