Not sure what to say?

I was a temporary driver for General Hoefling at Ft. Benning in 1970. I remember him as being warm and friendly. I particularly remember driving to daily mass at Ft. Benning's chapel where we attended mass together. (The attached photo was taken when I received the 1970 soldier of the year award--about the same time that I was General Hoefling's temporary driver.)

Colonel Hoefling was my Brigade Commander in Vietnam. The troops liked and respected him.

MG Hoefling was my Brigade Commander (as a COL) at Fort Campbell and ultimately in Vietnam. My condolences on his passing.

General Hoefling was my Brigade Commander in Vietnam. I also met with him when he was a Major General in the Pentagon and several times at our 101st Airborne Reunions. He was a great leader, and on more than one occasion during Combat Air Assault missions, I would turn around and there he was on the ground asking me what my situation was and if I needed anything at all. White Owl his call sign was one tough and very demanding of his officers, he always insisted on leading front and we did !...

Dear Pat and family,

Our dear Jack is in Heaven with Corney. Heaven lookout!

Our family is deeply saddened by Jack's passing, but we will always remember the wonderful generosity and hospitality of the Hoefling family. May Jack rest in peace.

Love you,
Diane M.

On behalf of Fr. Scott Donahue and Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Jack Hoefling.
May the angels lead him into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome him and take him to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.

It was a true Blessing to know this wonderful man.
The world is a better place because of you.
Godspeed, General.
