Jack Hogan was a vibrant personality. My Dad, Jerry Dowling, and he shared many a WWII Navy story. All the neighbors moved into Sexton Village shortly after the War and they were all young and raising kids. The Hogans, Dowlings, Donovans, Schmaltzs and others set up little 'nite clubs' In their basements and they would gather on holidays and sing Frank Sinatra songs, Irish songs.. and lift a few!! The HOGANS & the McDevitt's shared a party line, a telephone connection, that seems so odd these days. Yet our families shared much more than a phone number. I can't recall how many "pigs in a blanket" and other meals I shared at the Hogan family table, my second home. As my Dad was on the road for years, Mr Hogan was the Dad out on Hutchinson street playing a variety of games with the gang. He taught me a great deal about sports and life itself.
