Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

John Hollinger died suddenly at his home in New London on June 28, 2020. He was born on April 25, 1967 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Pauline Hollinger and the late Edwin Hollinger.

John was an avid Steelers fan, and enjoyed many Sundays in spirited defense of his team. His favorite holiday was Fourth of July, and the family spent many years on this date gathered together enjoying his spectacular fireworks displays. More than anything, he was happiest when fishing on the banks of a river, immersed in the solitude and beauty surrounding him, a love which he passed on to his many nieces and nephews. John was always the first to offer help whenever anyone needed anything. He had one of the kindest hearts we have ever known. John loved his family fiercely and unconditionally, and his generous and loving spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his mother Pauline of New London, NH;  nine siblings, Jeff (Cristina)Hollinger of Dover, NH, Fred (Pam) Hollinger of Thayne, WY, Betsy (Dave) Schulz of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Roberta (Dennis) Aufranc of New London, NH, Diane (Richard) Cook of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Mary (Alan) Craigie of Newbury, NH, Susan (Paul) Callaghan of Rochester, NH, Christine Hollinger of Raleigh, NC, and Paul (Lara) Hollinger of Morgan Hill, CA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Michael and father Edwin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in New London at 11am Friday, July 3rd. A private graveside burial will follow.

Donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association.

Not sure what to say?

I knew John a long time ago when he went to Plymouth State College back in 1987-88. John was a good friend and last remember him moving to Illinois, kept in touch for a year or two and unfortunately lost touch but thought about him a lot over the years and periodically tried to find him, sadly I never realized he moved back to New Hampshire and found this about him today. So sorry I wasn't able to find him till now thanks to my friend Steve , rest in peace my friend, I will always cherish...

My condolences to John's family. May each of you carry John's light and love in your heart always until you unite again.

Working with John at Lowe's in North Conway was a pleasure and I'm saddened at the news of his passing. He was certainly the best of the best. My condolences to all of you during this difficult time. Pat.

Farewell Too Soon Bouquet

I worked with John at Lowes from about 2001 to 2007 at Danvers MA and Epping NH. Great guy who worked so hard!!! We were both Steeler fans in New England and we were proud of our team and had to defend our loyalty. I moved from New England in 2007 to return to Pennsylvania and kept in touch with John by phone and email. I had been planning to come to visit for the past 10 years and just never made it. I am so sad for Johns family

It was nice to work with John he did alot for people and he was a good person and boss I wish I could've work with him more at Lowe's you will be missed John

We met John several years ago right after we moved to NH from NY. We bought a 1737 home, so I was nearly a daily customer to Lowes in Greenland. John was always there with a broad smile, friendly greeting, and offering his assistance. We quickly became first name friendly and John was one of our favorite folks at the store. When we found out That Lowes was restructuring and John was being let go, we felt strongly enough to write the Lowes hierarchy to let them know they were making a major...
