Not sure what to say?

To the family:
When Uncle Harvey Beech introduced me to Mr. Hooten back in the 1980's, he said, "There are only a few truly great men, and this is one of them."

My prayers are with you to be strengthened by memories.

Dr Esther, John, Mike and Robert:
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this most difficult time. May you feel God's comforting presence during this time of sorrow.
Respectfully,
Claude Kennedy

Mr. Hooten taught me Sunday School class at Gordon Street Christian Church. He was a great teacher and best remembered for his Peugeot and his Austin Healey that we 15-16 year olds checked out during class. My condolences to the family.

Esther: Marie and I were so sorry to learn of JR's passing. We remember with great fondness and joy the happy times the two of you shared with us at the meetings of the NC Senior Lawyer's Division and the wonderful meeting you two hosted in Oriental. Our prayers are with you. May God bless and keep you.

Ester, so sorry. I remember JR as one good looking young man that all the girls in Griton admired . You got the prize! He made his family proud and will be missed.

Ester sorry to hear about the passing of John .I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him .I remember when he went to Grifton School. I will be praying for you and your family .May God bless you all.

Esther, John, Mike and Robert: John was a very special friend. He represented the gold standard in friendship. He was a world class lawyer, and our profession has really missed him since he retired. I pray that you will receive comfort in your time of grief.

I was one of JR Hooten's boys, even though I lived in the house across the street. His impact on my life and that of my family cannot be measured, and we are saddened that he is no longer with us. Our prayers to the family include a reminder of his immortality through the many who loved him and were loved by him.

I remember JR as a star basketball player for Grifton High School.
