John Hritzuk

John Hritzuk was born on August 28, 1910 in Shostakovo, Russia to Theordore and Sofia Hritzuk. In 1929 the family immigrated to Canada arriving in St. Walburg on July 12. They settled on NE 15-54-23-W3rd in the Glenbogie district. John loved clearing land and over the years he cleared over 1000 acres. On February 23, 1941 John married Valentina Trotzuk. Together they raised four children, Sophie, John, Eugene and Dan. Together they farmed until 1973. At this time John and Valentina moved into St. Walburg. Their son Dan took over the family farm where John helped out until 1997. In April 2009 John moved into the Lakeland Lodge where he remained until his passing.
