Farmington, New Hampshire:
John H. (Jack) Huckins, "Huck", age 70 of Chestnut Hill Road in Farmington, NH died Wednesday evening October 27, 2004, at home.
Born June 12, 1934 in Rochester, NH, the son of John L. and Elise "Anna Belle" (Eaton) Huckins, he was raised in Farmington on the old Huckins Homestead on Meaderboro Road, now known as the Butternut Farm. A graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1953, he was also a graduate of Graham Breeding School, Class of 1954.
Jack was a farmer most of his life and owned his own trucking business "John H. Huckins Trucking" delivering bulk farm supplies and bark mulch, he also had driven a truck for Sprague Oil, Watkins Construction, Allied Van Lines, United Van Lines, United States Postal Service, RPS and Wausau Carriers. In 1980, he moved to Groveton, NH and established a successful Dairy Farm with national recognition, fulfilling his dream of having a dairy farm on the Connecticut River.
While in Groveteon, NH, he was a member of the Planning Board, Coos ASCS, a member of the Farm Bureau, a former president and vice president of the New England Milking Shorthorn, National Milking Shorthorn, as well as New Hampshire, New England and National Holstein Associations.
He was a member, and former trustee and active with the bus ministry at True Memorial Baptist Church in Rochester and was a former member of the Rochester Grange, a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster.
Jack enjoyed woodworking, having built four homes with his wife Gin, he was a hardworking man.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Virginia "Ginny" Anne (Farnum) Huckins of Farmington, 2 sons: John D. & wife Cheryl Huckins of Rochester , Thomas E. & wife Michelle Huckins of Farmington, 7 daughters: Catherine Plante of Farmington, Janet & husband Douglas Small of Farmington, Marcia & husband Gregory Clark of Cornish Flat, NH, Donna & husband William Baker of Somersworth, Brenda & husband Steven Wheeler of Newmarket, Lisa & husband Danny Guay of Groveton and Jennifer & husband Michael Kenison of Jefferson, 22 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters: Edith Smith of Welborn, FL and Priscilla Pomeroy of Spencer, MA, also many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews and 1 Aunt. He was pre-deceased by his daughter: Linda J. Huckins in 1995.
Calling hours are Saturday from 2-5 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Funeral will be held on Sunday October 31, 2004 at 1:00 pm at True Memorial Baptist Church, 21 Ten Road Road in Rochester, NH with Rev. Rick Lamirande, pastor and Rev. John Scruton, officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Point Cemetery in Strafford.
