My Dad, Artie Spencer, served on John's B-29 Crew during WWII. A bond developed with the crew members and throughout the years many kept in contact. John rode his motorcycle to Covington, VA to visit my dad one time and many phone calls were made between John, Artie and Frank Bracha (another crew member). My dad told John that he would name his first born daughter after their B-29 (Donna Lee, John's daughter) and he did. John was a remarkable man and lived a full life. My condolences to...
