Dear Barbara, John, Wendy, James and Beth: I was so sad to hear of John's passing; such a loss for everyone. He leaves behind such a fine legacy through his work dedicated to our country, and we know how special his family was as well. What fond memories I have of all of you over the past almost 50 years at our two schools. Sending hugs to all and hope to see you again. With love, Isabelle Schuessler and your many friends from Washington Episcopal School

Dear Barbara and family, we were saddened to hear of John's death. Memories of the Presidio came flooding back. We still talk about John's slide show at the swim team's parties. Those were the days. We are thinking of you.

BG Hutton was a tremendous and personable leader as commander of Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA. I greatly admired him and enjoyed serving under him: a warm presence and a respected clinician.

John Hutton was a great soldier, officer, patriot and physician. He served with honor and loyalty. Working closely with him for 8 years was one of the highlights of my career.

Dr. Hutton was my supervisor and mentor at the White House Medical Unit during my service in a civilian capacity. Dr. Hutton will be remembered
as a compassionate physician, mentor, and friend.

I knew General Hutton at the White House and the Naval Academy. He was a wonderful, kind man who had the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him. He will be missed.

BG John Hutton, M.D., leaves a legacy of high achievement, service to humankind and devotion to country that has been attained by very few. In addition his distinguished service as Physician to President Ronald Reagan, he was the leader's leader, the surgeon's surgeon, the teacher's teacher and the soldier's soldier. I had the great privilege of serving with John in each of these capacities - at Walter Reed, where he served as Chief of the Department of Surgery, and at White House. He influenced my life and the lives of so many others in ways that are too numerous to recount. As a beloved teacher, mentor and friend, John's memory will live in my heart and continue to be an inspiration in all that I do. Linda and Andrea join me in sending our condolences to Barbara and each of the children who John loved so much. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

John and I had many days together on the Chesapeake Bay in a small US Naval Academy powerboat in support of the Navy 44 regattas. For about 10 years he would take photos from our boat during the Shields Trophy, McMillan Cup and Kennedy Cup regattas.
We had what seemed to be one long 10 year conversation.
4 years ago he came to say goodbye...
I miss him as much today as I did then.
Fair winds and following seas John...

I had the greatest respect for BG Hutton, and had the privilege of serving with him at The White House Medical Unit from 1984-1988. He was a great mentor and friend.
