Not sure what to say?

Miss you, dude. Close to 40 yrs in shared experiences -- volunteer events, Y2K, 9/11, weddings, divorces, relationships, long talks about life and politics. Take care my friend...life is really short...thought we would have had another 40.

Sending my deepest condolences to the Imbur family. I had the pleasure of working closely with John over the past year and 4 months, and to say his absence is felt, would be an understatement. His personality was so big, that he leaves behind a major void. He was a joy to work with, and introduced us to many "Dad Jokes" and puns. He seized every opportunity to uplift our spirits with one of his colorful stories. My life is better for having known him. Every time I hear a new dad joke, I will...

I was very saddened when I heard the news of John´s sudden death. I met John at a meeting and knew instantly that he worked a good program and was willing to help others His service and willingness to help others will be greatly missed Dru R

What a beautiful tribute to a life cut short far too soon. We enjoyed meeting John at Greg & Amy's wedding and have treasured all the stories over the years. Sending love and peace to the Imbur family.

I met John sometime around 1984 in Virginia Beach when we were both in Boy Scout Troop 63. He was my first patrol leader, and we ended up getting our Eagle Scout awards at the same time. My favorite memory was a whitewater canoe trip down the James River where we got paired up for the day. We managed to flip the canoe, and I´ll never forget John yelling to "save my mustard and onion sandwiches..." as we bounced down the rapids...good times! We´d run into each other at VT from time to...

Dear friends and family of John, we want to thank each and every one of you who has loved, helped and supported John over the years. While I realize that many people are not on Facebook, I would encourage you to find someone who is, and to search up his name and mine. I, for example, will be reading all of the comments here and Facebook to my parents, and they will likely be used in a book or something to help River appreciate the wide-reaching impact that her dad had on so many people.

Sympathy to Don, Alice and Greg. John was an example of perseverance and kindness, may John now rest in peace and watch over River and his parents.

What a life to reflect on. May we all strive to be the human he was. I'm hoping the family feels the arms of all that were touched by John around them as we celebrate his wonderful life. Gone way too soon.

John introduced us to the New River on a kayak trip the first year we lived in Blacksburg. I will miss his warm and caring presence.
