Not sure what to say?

What a tremendous loss. I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with Jack in the mid 1980's when we found ourselves on opposing sides of an antitrust case. I found him to be a formidable adversary yet, at the same time, a gentleman such as we should all aspire to be in this challenging profession.

Mary and Sadie and all the Pariseaux: I was behind on my papers and didn't read of Jack's passing until it was too late to attend. I've been meaning to send you all a card, but haven't gotten around to it. Was doing some genealogical work and saw both a Heyward Izard and an Izard Heyward, so decided just to post a note here for you to convey my condolences for the loss of your incredible father. I am grateful that he was able to accomplish so much in his life. I smiled when I read that...

I was indeed sorry to read of Jack's passing after such a fully accomplished life. Our paths crossed at Simmons Company with some frequency in the late 70's and more recently at Brookhaven at annual meetings. To you and your family, I send my heartfelt sympathy. Joe Quarles

Bailey & Kerry: I am so very sorry to hear of your father's death. He had been doing so well, and I am so sorry to hear from a friend today of his death last Friday. He was a towering figure in our community, as well as an amazing role model with your family. I hope it helps that I am thinking of you. Warmly, Deby

What a rare and amazing Southern gentleman you have lost. Your Georgia pioneer lead his family and friends to be stewards of the environment. His force is strong in you all, and I am thankful for you sharing it.
Love, Rena Ann

To: Mary and Family
We mourn the loss of our good friend, "Jack". We extend our condolences to you and your family.
We will always have wonderful memories of our times together and in particular, our recent day of fishing in Montana. Love, Bud and Esther Lilly

To John and Elizabeth - I read of the passing of your father. What an incredible life he had. Perhaps this was sudden as you did not reveal any illness when we recently met. Regardless, a full and long life - I am sure he will be missed.

Dear Jack and Lucy,
I was sorry to read about your grandfather, but it seems he had a very full life. It may interest you to know that on November 1st I start the Izard family olive recipe, in anticipation for Thanksgiving. It must have been his. It delights my friends and family. I am thinking about you.
Fondly,
Mrs. McAtee

Baily and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. A great man who has truly given so much to family, others, and enjoyed life to its fullest. God Bless.
