SEYMOUR: John R. “Jack” Williams, age 87, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, January 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Uberti Sojka Williams.

John was born in Derby on March 11, 1934, son of the late John and Mildred Skurat Williams. John was raised by his late aunt and uncle, Mamie Skurat Scholz and Abion Scholz. Jack was a dedicated City of Ansonia police officer for forty-two years. He was a scrabble enthusiast as well as his love to bowl and take trips to the casino. He had an unconditional love for the Dallas Cowboys. “They could never do wrong!”

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, a step-son, Robert Sojka (Heidi) of Southbury, a special step-daughter, Renee Sojka of Seymour, granddaughters, Ashley Sojka of New Britain and Taylor Sojka of Fairfield, grandsons, Eric, Joshua and Cameron Sojka of Southbury and many friends. The family would like to thank Masonicare for their loving support, Marion, his aide, for her wonderful care along with Jack’s sister-in-law, Rita Uberti, for all of her nursing care and love for him.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:30 am, meeting directly at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia, for his Mass of Christian Burial. Masks are required in church. Private entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter’s Mausoleum in Derby. Not sure what to say?

Sorry to hear of Jacks passing. He was a Great Officer, he worked the beat with my grandfather Luke for many years. He was a good friend of my grandfather. I have fond memories of Jack back in the day driving the ambulance when it was behind city hall. Thoughts and Prayers to the entire family.

Dearest Elaine and family. Our deepest condolences. Words cannot express how much we feel about Jack. As a young rookie officer Jack became my second Father and best friend. Jack inspired me to not only excel with my career but in my personal life as well. I will always cherish the memories I spent talking and laughing while enjoying our daily coffee time on Platt Street. We had lots of good times playing Scrabble and recalling the " good old days. As everyone knows Jack was one of a kind. He...

Jack had a tremendous impact on any police officer that he helped over the years. He was an old school, neighborhood police officer and knew everyone by first name. I have fond memories of the years I worked with him. He was as genuine a person as you will ever meet. Elaine, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Rest In Peace Bumper.

Jack was a wonderful Mentor even in silence he could teach you things with just a look. Spent many hours with Jack and treasured everyone of them. Officer Williams always had your back. He was an inspiration to the younger Officers who often flocked around him. I will always remember Bumper.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
