Whether having lunch or playing cribbage, time spent with John always left me feeling a bit more enriched. I loved the tales of his eclipse chases and was warmed by the deep love he had for his family.

We feel fortunate to have known both John and Charmian. Both of us worked with John at the National Optical Astronomy Observatories; Nigel as a staff Astronomer/Physicist and Yma as a Secretary. John was warm, sincere and a delight to be with. He will be missed. Nigel and Yma Sharp
