Not sure what to say?

We only learned today of Brother John's death. We were saddened, of course, but know that he is now in the presence of God enjoying the fruits of his work over the past years. We saw Brother John in Auburn recently and had a great visit with him. It was wonderful to see him and relive some of the "old times". He, of course, had been an integral part of the Harris/Turner lives from the first day that he and his family arrived at First Baptist...from weddings to child dedication to...

I just learned of Bro John's death on the 15th of August. During the late 1960's and early 70's as a student I attended First Baptist Auburn and was blessed to have had Bro John as a pastor. He challenged our faith and made us grown in our Christianity. We were so happy during a gathering of alumini 6 years ago, that Bro. John did the sermon on the weekend of our reunion. To the Jeffer's family and especially to Jane and Jeanette I know Bro John will be missed. While you grieve your loss...

A true loss for the church, the city, and the family. Peace and God's grace to the Jeffers family.

Dear Jeffers family,
I have such fond memories of Brother John and all of you growing up. He baptized me and called me by name every time I saw him----always made me feel very special. I also have great memories of playing at the Jeffers house and spending time there after church on Sunday night. He leaves quite a legacy and I know will be missed by so many. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely, Jennifer Taylor Carson

Dear Jeffers Family,
We are sorry to hear you have lost your loved one. He is in the presence of our dear Lord now.
Dr Jeffers was a strength to my
Auburn family during difficult times. He counseled us and performed the marriage ceremony for my husband and me..still going strong after almost 42 years.
May the Lord comfort your hearts as you miss him. Know that many are in your company.
Blessings to you all,
Louise (Penton)

Dear Jane,

I know that you will cherish every memory of your Father and keep them forward in your heart and mind. The slightest scent or that one special song will keep your love and memories strong. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Johnny and the Jeffers family,
The service yesterday was wonderful--just what I would have expected. I have so many memories of your family--dating from the time you first moved to Auburn--to the time that Bro John married us--to the time that my Daddy died. He was truly an exceptional man--and I think that Jim Evans captured his essence when he said that Integrity was the word that best described John Jeffers. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

John,
Sorry to read of the passing of your father. He will truly be missed by you, your family, and many others. Although I didn't know him personally, I knew of his work and he was truly a man of God. May God be with you during your time of sorrow.

When I tell people that I grew up in a wonderful Baptist church that welcomed African Americans as members in the 1960's and ordained women as deacons and ministers in the 1970's, it is because of the spiritual guidance of Brother John. May the Jeffers' peace be found in the love Brother John shared with so many people. Love, Ginny Brown Daniel
