John Billy Jones, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2019 in Vineyard, Utah. He was born on May 13, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to John William Jones and Ruth Monsen Jones. He attended North Sanpete High, Snow College, and BYU. He married Karen Gay Robertson on July 17, 1953 in the Manti Temple.
John served a 2 year LDS Mission in the Central Atlantic States. He also served in the Military Army Air Corp in British Guiana for four years during World War II. He was a devoted Temple worker for the LDS Church and served four years as a host missionary at the LDS Conference Center and 15 years as a Temple worker in various Temples throughout Utah. He loved art and painted beautiful paintings in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Jones; children, John Robert Jones (son), Carol Dee Jones (daughter), Kenneth Owen Jones (son), Scott Ernest Jones (son) and Sue Ann Carlson (daughter); seven Grandchildren and nine Great-Grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Valley View Funeral Home 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior.
