Not sure what to say?

I hold the utmost respect for John “The Duke” Jones. He carried himself with class and dignity – everyone liked and respected him. My fondest memories of John include watching him box and sitting in on several late night B.S. sessions with him and our other classmates at the Naval Academy. Despite his quiet demeanor, he possessed a quick wit and tremendous sense of humor. I last saw him at our ten-year class reunion in Annapolis and it was as if we hadn’t skipped a beat. He will be missed!

John will always be a shining star in my heart. The time I spent getting to know him was so meaningful for me and I will never forget him. His accomplishments, sense of humor, intelligence, passion for life and work have been inspirational to me. I am devastated by his loss.

My deepest sympathies to John's family and loved ones. While I haven't seen John since graduation from the Naval Academy, I have spoken of him many times as a role model for all. Calm, collected, determined, and fit, he set an example that left everyone else coming up short.

My fondest memories of him include watching him box, enjoying his company and laugh, and barely surviving the one day when he took me to the track for sprints.

The Duke had a positive impact in my life, and...

My deepest sympathies to the family. I'm in shock, having just seen him. We were colleagues at Cooley Godward together. He was a gentle spirit and good man.

My condolences to John's family and loved ones. I worked with John at the SEC. He was smart, nice and funny and I enjoyed working with him. I am so sad to hear about his passing.

Our deepest condolences to John's family and loved ones. We were so sorry to hear of your loss. We will always remember John as one of the genuinely nicest guys at the Naval Academy. We were fortunate to have been in 17th company with him. His smile was enough to make a bad day brighter. He truly was a blessing to all who knew him. May the Lord provide you all comfort in this time of sorrow; our prayers are with you.

I will always remember John for his strength of presence. John filled every room with quiet confidence and graciousness. Never one to boast, John’s actions defined his character. He set an impeccable example for all of us on how to live as a man, a friend, an officer, and a leader. His understated nature was all the more remarkable when contrasted with his determination and power in the Ring. My memories will always be of his smile and his strength. We will miss you Duke.

My deepest condolences to John's friends and family. I shared John's friendship at the Academy, in the Corps, and during law school. I remember John as one of the most unselfish and sincere people I've known. John was a wonderful and curious blend - tough as nails boxer on the outside with the biggest heart on the inside. I'll miss his friendship and easy smile.

My deep sympathies to John's family. We were in the same company at the Naval Academy and I will never forget how kind and generous he always was. In his own way John always, "spoke softly and carried a big stick" - he was a first rate boxer and we always enjoyed cheering him on during his fights.
