Not sure what to say?

Dear Kathy and family, I knew John back in Syracuse in 1966-68 as a student at OCC. I played trumpet with him in "The Soul Brothers" at that time. He was already a great leader and musician by then. He was a great mentor to me because I was much younger than the other band mates. We shared many great experiences on the bandstand including opening for Sly and the Family Stone in Ithaca. He sent me home with many jazz, soul and R&B albums to practice and learn from. But playing next to him...

Dear Kathy and family, I met John when Camillus Jr High had to accept 6th graders and become a middle school. He befriended me and took me under his wing. I quickly learned that we shared a love of cars, boats, bikes, food and his beloved music. My youngest daughter and her family are living on Otisco Valley Rd. down the road from John Kanes chesnut tree. He was an unforgettable man. Joe Conmy

I'm very sorry to learn of John's passing, I have fond memories of playing in a band with him called Slow Burn. John was always a Wonderful musician and was always very supportive to his fellow band mates.. May he Rest in Peace..

I worked with John behind Art Robbins & The Message for several years back in the 70's, thanks to Tony Licamele's recommendation. Every moment on stage was a joy with him on tenor sax. He was, without a doubt, the funkiest RnB saxophonist of the baby boomer generation ever produced in Central New York (along with Jerry More) - and a true gentleman as well. Every moment, every note, was exciting, and the laughs were many. I remember how crestfallen I was (as were many) when he decided to hang...

John Kane was the first english teacher that really influenced me. He had us reading great literature and generally encouraged reading. One time I told him that I liked Edgar Rice Burroughs novels (that were science fiction pot boilers). But Mr. Kane told me he had a friend in publishing, and after he gave me the guy´s address, the guy sent me several copies of Burroughs novels I couldn´t find. Afterwards Kane was insistent to teach me that I had to write a "thank you" letter. I remember...

Kathy, I´m so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and sending hugs!
