Funeral services to celebrate the life of John E. Kautz, 70, a resident of Muscatine, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Burial will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. John died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Carrington Place, Muscatine. John Edwin Kautz was born on January 29, 1942, a son of Edwin T. and Margaret M. (Watson) Kautz. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ahrens on August 9, 1975. They have shared over 37 years of marriage together. John enjoyed camping and collecting Lionel Trains. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christian Care of the Quad Cities, a rescue mission and domestic violence shelter. John is survived by his wife, Ruth, daughter, Lisa (Brian Schell) Hocke, stepchildren: Mike Samuelson, Pam Paul, and Craig Samuelson; grandchildren, Phoenix, Preston, and Phoebe Hocke, James (Valerie) Paul, Jacob (Amanda) Paul, Joseph Paul, Jeremiah Paul, April Samuelson, and Kristy Samuelson; great-grandchildren" Jass Jones, Isac Jones, Madylne Paul, and Adrania Paul; and a brother, Robert Kautz, Buffalo, Iowa. John was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jessie Hocke, a grandson, Zachariah Hocke; a great-granddaughter, Addison Calvin; his parents, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Kautz. May the rest in peace.
