John Thomas Kearns

I am still bothered by "Tom" John Kearnes passing. Dying of Alzheimer's goes beyond Tragic! Tom was so alive, a Positive for so many people. Couple's with his wonderful Wife, Sandy's passing from Lou Gehrig's disease was also very Tragic. And, especially Sandy, so young, vibrant! I was talking about health and diseases just last week, and again, Tom's dying of Alzheimer's came to mind, and I told the people I was talking with about it. Tom was an important part of my life, going back to1973...when he came to Yankton to Manage KYNT Radio, where I was working as an Announcer. We both left KYNT in 1978.
He was a person I have been proud to have known. That Tom died of Alzheimers is shocking to me...as I last knew him when he was only 39. His wife Sandy was a very nice lady. I was saddened a number of years ago when I'd heard she'd passed away...

Frist met Tom during a Dale Carnegie Course in 1969 when working for KKLS (KEZU) in Rapid City. Being one of the youngest, he encouraged me and was a big part of my radio and television broadcast sales career for over 20 years. Tom was part of my life as far back as I can remember. He was like a member of the family. He will be missed so much by everyone who had the good fourtune of knowing him.
